| The
village of Gualchos, with approximately 800 inhabitants, is
situated 5 kms above the coastal town of Castell de Ferro.
The village retains its Spanish charm and has been unspoilt by tourism.
Gualchos has a bakery, a small supermarket, an ice cream shop,
a small market for fish and meat, 4 bars and two restaurants. |

| There
are two roads leading to the village - both are well made although
windy. The first road is from Castell de Ferro and the N340
coastal road and takes 10 minutes to get to the village. The second
road is from Motril and takes 20 minutes with some breathtaking
views en-route. There is a daily bus service from the village to Motril
but hiring a car is essential! The town of Motril has plenty of shops,
banks, restaurants, markets and large supermarkets for all shopping
needs. |
| The
interior of the house has been tastefully furnished and offers spacious
accommodation. There is a central patio at the back of the
house with patio furniture and two sunbathing terraces on the
first floor accessed from the bedrooms. The house has 3 bedrooms
(1 double and 2 twins), 1 bathroom and a separate toilet on the
groundfloor level. The recent addition of a wood burning stove
in the chimney makes it an ideal destination over the winter months.
It has been furnished to a high standard and offers well equipped
and comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. |

| The
Sierra Nevada, Spain´s highest mountain range, is a magnificent
backdrop to this partly undiscoverred area of Spain. The area enjoys
a microclimate, subtropical in character, a warm and gentle 18 degrees
in winter and an average of 25 degrees in summer. The beaches are
unspoilt, there are golf courses in Granada (18 holes)
and Los Moriscos golf course (currently 9 holes but being extended
to 18) just a few kms from Motril. In the winter months you can ski
in the Sierras in the morning and sunbathe on the terrace in the afternoon. |

| This
is the old Andalucian part of Spain, complete with fiestas, whitewashed
villages, Moorish castles and some of the best and least expensive
food and wine to be found. The restaurants and tapas bars are very
good and the fish is excellent. There is history to be found everywhere,
from the Alhambra Palace in Granada (just 1.5 hours
by car) to the Alpujarras region and the coastal towns of Almeria,
Almunecar, Salobrena and Nerja. |
