Villa Palmera is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains overlooking the Costa Tropical de Granada and the Mediterranean Sea. The villa is on a hillside with magnificent views and has a large terrace with sunbathing area and swimming pool (pool is not in operation between November and March). It is set in a quarter acre of walled and gated grounds with two lovely garden areas planted with a selection of fruit trees and shrubs. The villa is in a peaceful area, well away from the main traffic routes and within walking distance of La Garnatilla village. The town of Motril is 10 minutes away by car and the beach is 15 minutes. Motril has plenty of shops, restaurants, markets and large supermarkets for all shopping needs. A car is essential.
The beaches are unspoilt, there are golf courses in Granada (18 holes) and Los Moriscos golf course (9 holes) just 8km from Motril, by the sea with a restaurant/bar and surrounded by palm trees! The Sierra Nevada, Spain's highest mountain range, is a magnificent backdrop to this partly undiscovered area of Spain. The coastal area has a tropical climate with approx. 326 days of sunshine.
This is the old Andalucian part of Spain, complete with fiestas, whitewashed villages, Moorish castles and some of the best and least expensive food and wine to be found. The restaurants and tapas bars are very good and the fish is excellent. There is history to be found everywhere, from the Alhambra Palace in Granada (just 50 minutes by car) to the Alpujarras region.
